The manufacturing process uses the dry extract of propolis, making it an alcohol-free product, developed especially for those who dislike the characteristic taste of propolis, and also to make consumption more convenient, as this dosage form makes carrying of the product easier. Green propolis is special for two main reasons: Africanized bees and unique sources of Brazilian flora. It is produced from exudates collected by bees, exclusively from a plant native to Brazil, the Baccharis dracunculifolia, popularly known as “Vassourinha” or “Alecrim do Campo”.

Thus, green propolis has some special active substances that can only be found in this type of propolis, namely Artepelin C, and many researchers attribute a large part of its activities to this compound.

Considering the high amount of Artepelin C present in this propolis, in addition to other active compounds, the commercial value of Brazilian green propolis in the international market is very high.
